CS Grupetto

We are a little bit different to most clubs in that we\'re primarily a group of friends who socialise off the bike, but we happen to share a common interest in cycling and cyclesport. We are based in Putney and have regular weekend rides out to Windsor and the Surrey Hills, as well as occasional trips elsewhere.

We have a wide variety of cycling interests amongst club members, from track riding to road racing, and sportives to bike polo. Several of our members have their race licences, and we\'re represented in every category including Elite

We regularly travel further afield to enjoy some of the classic races – this year quite a few of us have ridden the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix sportives, and then watched the pros follow our tyre tracks. We also try and get to see the Ghent and Berlin six day track events.

At the core of the club ethos is a desire to enjoy good rides with good friends.

We are not like other local clubs as we are first and foremost a group of friends who know and socialise with each other outside of cycling, but happen to share cycling as a common interest.

As we are an informal club, we don’t have a structured set of organised rides. All our rides are organised on an ad hoc basis by our members, although there is normally a ride happening in Kent or Surrey most Sundays with frequent additional rides on Saturday. There are also midweek rides in Richmond Park and Kent, but none of these are regular events as you would find with larger, more conventional clubs.

Unlike some of the more formal clubs, there aren’t official weekly clubruns split into different abilities with set destinations and ride leaders. Our rides are led and organised by different club members, as for us, cycling is an opportunity to meet friends old and new, and have a good time.

As the ethos of the club is ‘friends riding with friends’, membership has generally been through existing club member referrals. That is not to say we don’t welcome ‘unknown’ new members, but we like to make sure they understand what the club is about, feel happy with it, and want to take an active part in the life of the club – and not just on the bike.

Details of club rides are accessible on the forum, we just ask that you let us know if you’re coming along.
