CS Grupetto

We are a little bit different to most clubs in that we\'re primarily a group of friends who socialise off the bike, but we happen to share a common interest in cycling and cyclesport. We are based in Putney and have regular weekend rides out to Windsor and the Surrey Hills, as well as occasional trips elsewhere.

We have a wide variety of cycling interests amongst club members, from track riding to road racing, and sportives to bike polo. Several of our members have their race licences, and we\'re represented in every category including Elite

We regularly travel further afield to enjoy some of the classic races – this year quite a few of us have ridden the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix sportives, and then watched the pros follow our tyre tracks. We also try and get to see the Ghent and Berlin six day track events.

At the core of the club ethos is a desire to enjoy good rides with good friends.

My niece Emilie was born on 28th August, 2009. Unfortunately, during her birth she suffered oxygen deprivation and was born with severe brain damage. Unfortunately after many weeks spent in the intensive care unit undergoing numerous tests and treatments (including Cooling Therapy) and constant monitoring/care once home, she passed away on 23rd December.

www.team-emilie.com <http://www.team-emilie.com/>  has been set up to raise money to support worthy causes in Emilie’s memory. The team comprises Rhodri and Hannah, (Emilie’s parents) her Grandfather Ian, myself and Rhiannon, as well as Steve Wood and James Butcher. Between us we aim to raise as much money as we can.

Sparks Children’s Medical Research Charity envisions a world where all babies are given the best possible start in life and where a medical condition or disability at birth is not a barrier to opportunity and fulfilment. They aim to achieve this by funding high quality medical research that is intended to have a practical and positive effect on the lives of children. Sparks has been chosen not only because Emilie was treated with cooling techniques funded by research from Sparks, but because they look to support research in all fields of medicine. Nearly £20million has been raised and pledged to research projects so far by Sparks, and we want to add to that!

Team Emilie is taking part in several events in the coming months and we need your support! From 10km runs to sky-dives, to the near-1000 mile ‘Deloitte Ride Across Britain’ in June, we will be pushing ourselves to inspire as many people as possible to donate to this fantastic charity.

To date, we have raised over £2,000, and with the recent launch of our ‘JustGiving’ page, we aim to increase this figure massively!!!

Please visit www.justgiving.com/team-emilie to donate.
